The university of Kentucky college of medicine offers a 4-year MD program including two years of basic science studies and 2 years of clinical rotation. In addition, the college maintains blended degree programs that allow students to get an MBA, MPH, or Ph.D. MD Degrees Classes are arranged on a free block schedule that starts and ends with breaks throughout the academic year. In the first two years, classes are often postponed until noon, leaving students with the opportunity to ensure self-study or extracurricular activities. Since the early 1990s, the college has been part of a model program to integrate early clinical experience into traditional science classes for the first two years. Students are active in the community, run a UKSA clinic affiliated with the Salvation Army, arrange an annual community health fair, undertake rural medicine internships in nearby counties, and volunteer independently.
